WORKSHOP BACKGROUND: -USGS/EDC Remote Sensing/Geospatial Data Hurricane Conference Calls prior to 2005 (Mostly DOI staff and few agencies-FEMA) Brenda Jones/Ron Risty -Example Hurricane Lili in 2002; Floirda in 2004 -Pre Hurricane Season 2005 Imagery/Geospatial Data Coordination meeting (Stennis Space Center) -Federal/State/Local agencies representing Louisiana & Mississippi -Disaster Response Remote Sensing/Geospatial Data Coordination Phone Conference Calls -Recommended by Steve Ambrose/NASA/Emergency Response Office -Katrina (Rita & Wilma) -Calls went out initially to 15 people (Mostly to key imagery/geospatial data coordinators involved in impacted states or agencies) -During the height of the phone calls had over 100 people involved in calls. -Coordinate conventional aerial imagery acquisition/over flights coverage areas for post Katrina/Rita/Wilma damage assessments and surveys. -Coordinate or announce other available over flights (Pictometry, Digital Globe, NASA, DOD, International Satellites, other private sector)

-Now there are over 120 people on the phone conf. call list (Fed, State, Local, Universities including key DOD and DHS/FEMA org.) -Held daily (7 days/week) Conf. calls during the Hurricane Season which ends about first part of November. On occasion went to weekly calls. Meet one time in December. Will meet on requested occasion -Action Items for Disaster Response Phone Conf. Calls -Remote Sensing Imagery Data Requirements (formats, projections, compression ratios, minimum metadata, naming conventions, etc) -Unmanned Airborne Vehicle Platform Imagery for Emergency (Disaster) Response. This workshop is a result. -Infrastructure/web portals/web services needed for data and product delivery during emergencies. Next Scheduled Disaster Response Phone Conf.
